Size 1-2 years is without a thumb, as this is difficult for children of that age. There is also no cord on this size, so the mittens can safely be used in the pram during naps. Sizes 2-4 and 5-7 years have a thumb and an elastic cord sewn onto the mittens. The cord allows them to be easily threaded through the child's jacket at the arms, securing them so the child doesn't lose the mittens. If you don't wish to use the cord, it can be easily cut off. Measurements: All measurements are external. It is important for the child to have air around their fingers & hand, as mittens only provide optimal warmth with free movement.
