Important information about sealskin and qualities:<\/strong>
Sealskin is graded into qualities A, B, C, D, E & discarded skins<\/strong>. “A” skin = top quality (very rare). “E” quality = skin with many flaws. NOTE: All our sealskin product photos on this webshop are taken from C or B skins.<\/strong> Color tones vary from skin to skin. Sizes vary from skin to skin. The skin you see in the product photo is NOT the one you are buying. Do you have specific requests for a skin? – then just write it in the comments on your order, and we will do our best to find a suitable skin – but we do not guarantee requests. <\/p>\n

Quality descriptions:<\/strong> A,B,C,D,E and discarded. A-skins<\/strong> have a maximum of two flaws. B-skins<\/strong> can have up to eight flaws. C-skins<\/strong> can have several flaws, as well as one-two larger flaws. D-skins<\/strong> can have areas completely without hair or with hard leather. E and discarded<\/strong> skins are typically very<\/strong> damaged skins and with discolorations, which can only be used for the production of very small items, after which the rest of the skin is completely discarded. In Great Greenland’s own production of finished goods, we primarily work with C and D qualities. <\/p>\n

Seals live in the wild, so “damage” often occurs naturally, which reduces the skin quality. However, this is also what makes each individual sealskin completely unique!<\/strong> The quality indications therefore tell something about the general condition of the skin. Decorative or handicraft skins?<\/strong> Sealskins are extremely decorative. Can be used as, for example, rugs, as cushions in chairs or sofas. Only imagination sets the limits. Sealskins behave like other leather goods regarding wear and maintenance. A wonderful material for handicrafts. <\/p>\n

All sealskins processed by Great Greenland are caught by Greenlandic Inuit hunters along the coast of Greenland. All skins are tanned at Great Greenland’s tannery in South Greenland.
